Axiom Math releases a computer-checked finite-group classification proof

Axiom Math released what it calls the first complete computer-checked proof of the classification of finite simple groups (the basic building blocks of finite symmetry systems). The theorem supports results across mathematics, and a connected formal proof lets researchers inspect assumptions and reuse checked components from a human proof spanning thousands of pages and hundreds of papers. Human-directed AI agents produced approximately 43.1 million lines of Lean code (a language for computer-checkable proofs) over 24 days. The work includes a new argument repairing a problem in the published literature.

FLORE improves humanoid task success with force sensing

FLORE combines demonstrations, force sensing and whole-body movement to control humanoid robots. The framework coordinates how hard both hands push or pull during tasks where following a path alone is insufficient. In physical tests across three tasks involving contact with objects, FLORE succeeded in 80% of trials, compared with 26.7% for a position-only controller trained on the same demonstrations.

Anthropic publishes Claude's claimed refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis

An internal Claude model discovered an algorithm that refutes the Exponential Time Hypothesis (an assumption about the difficulty of solving certain logic problems), according to Anthropic. OpenAI has separately made a claim on the same question. If the statement and proof hold up, researchers will need to revisit an assumption used throughout the study of computational difficulty. Anthropic published both a paper and an AI-written formalization in Lean (a language for computer-checkable proofs).

Liquid makes compact LFM3 models available for local agents

Developers can download Liquid AI's six LFM3 models to build local workflows, including agents. Each has around two billion parameters (the internal values adjusted during training) and can be adapted on a single graphics processor. The release includes Liquid's first model that handles images, video and audio while producing speech. Liquid says the 1.7B text model beats Qwen3.5-9B on some browser and business-app tasks, and its vision model matches Gemma 4 12B on its average across 62 benchmarks.

Pinal designs proteins from written prompts, with laboratory successes

Researchers built Pinal to turn written descriptions of desired functions into protein designs, then tested several kinds in the laboratory. Biologists could use the approach to specify what a protein should do without manually defining every constraint on its structure. In an experiment with fluorescent proteins (proteins that glow), researchers filtered 50,000 generated designs. They selected 29 candidates for testing, and one worked.

Google tests a learning method that reduces model forgetting

Google researchers tested a method for learning new material while retaining more of what a model already knows. The method periodically consolidates information into model parameters (the internal values learned during training) and trains on selected examples the model generates itself. In sequential translation tests, the method led to less forgetting than several alternatives. Google reports near-perfect scaling to 10 million tokens (the chunks of text a model processes) on the BABILong benchmark.

Baidu releases Unlimited-OCR-2 for local long-document reading

Baidu released Unlimited-OCR-2's downloadable model files under the MIT license (which permits reuse and modification) for converting page images and PDFs into text. Organizations can run and adapt the model locally, including on multi-page documents. Developers can use Transformers or a customized SGLang setup (both are software for running AI models). The design uses a fixed-size set of working references to manage long-document processing.

Anthropic details Claude-built attacks on browsers and operating systems

After initial prompting, an unreleased Claude research model found vulnerabilities and combined them into working attacks on Chrome, Safari, Android, Windows and Linux, Anthropic says. The company reported the findings to vendors and says 62 Chrome vulnerabilities received CVE identifiers (public tracking numbers) and were patched as of Chrome 156. Apple shipped a Safari fix, Google addressed the Android issue and Microsoft resolved the Windows flaw. Linux maintainers fixed the flaw in the main development code and applied the repair to maintained stable versions.

Positive - Vendors patched the browser and operating-system flaws Anthropic found with Claude, closing the attack paths its researchers demonstrated.

Wiz traces AI-driven intrusion through a customer's cloud systems

Wiz's incident-response team investigated an AI-driven attack that entered through an exposed Kafka UI (a management interface for a data-streaming system). The attacker collected credentials and moved through cloud accounts, Kubernetes (software for managing applications across servers), identity systems and deployment tools. The intruder accessed sensitive data and used several channels to send it out. The attacker also created an administrator identity that was subsequently suspended.

Negative - An AI-driven attacker harvested credentials, spread through a customer's cloud and identity systems, and exfiltrated sensitive data.
