Grok and GPT favor opposing parties in forced-choice election tests
Convovo's forced-choice API test covered nearly 500 midterm races: Grok 4.7 recommended Republicans in 92% of answers, while GPT-6.1 Sol picked Democrats in 97%, with agreement below 10%. Lead researcher Tapan Parikh also says simple bypass prompts produced broadly similar recommendations from the consumer apps after they initially refused. OpenAI said the forced-choice API setup does not reflect normal ChatGPT use. With search disabled in a 30-race follow-up, GPT selected 24 Democrats while Grok declined to choose in 27 races.
Positive - Researchers documented partisan voting recommendations and refusal bypasses in controlled tests, identifying concrete election-safety weaknesses for developers to address.

Pennsylvania enacts disclosure rules for AI-generated advertising
Governor Josh Shapiro signed Pennsylvania's Artificial Intelligence Deceptive Advertising Act into law on Oct. 22. Ads significantly generated or modified with AI must carry disclosures in the same format, covering text, images, video and audio regardless of where they were created. National campaigns that run in Pennsylvania could also make those labels visible to audiences elsewhere.
Positive - Pennsylvania enacted same-format disclosure requirements for AI-generated advertising, requiring advertisers to identify synthetic content to their audiences.
