Google opens managed cloud tools to agents in public preview
On Sept. 30, Google Cloud opened a public preview of its remote MCP server (meaning a managed connection agents use to reach tools), letting compatible agents run cloud commands without installing the tools locally. Agents can diagnose cloud incidents and use gcloud and BigQuery’s bq commands to schedule queries, manage jobs and reservations, or inspect and change permissions. Google says commands run in a network-isolated environment without preloaded credentials and obey the caller’s access permissions and organization policies. The server supports screening through Model Armor and configurable audit logging; it has no additional charge, although resources created and applicable data transfers still cost money.
