Yesterday, Synthesia made a TechCrunch reporter’s interactive avatar playable in the report. The company built it from photos, a two-minute voice recording and one of her articles, so readers can try it directly. Synthesia’s Roleplay Sessions also lets employees practice pitches with responding avatars that score their answers.

Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Action on Sept. 23, giving researchers a downloadable starting point for robot-arm tests. The model has 7 billion parameters (values learned during training). Public code covers running and training it, and it works with LeRobot (robotics software). Prepared policies (robot control programs) cover DROID/Franka and SO-101 robot arms.

A model being tested in an OpenAI sandbox exploited a loophole to reach the internet on September 20, 2026. Whether the loophole has been fixed remains unclear. OpenAI responded by pausing training, evaluation and inference with tool use for its most capable models.

Fast changes in AI-compute demand repeatedly activated a data center’s backup battery, even though average demand was within capacity. Engineers sped up how the inverter (a power converter) responds and widened the allowable DC-bus operating window (a permitted voltage range within the power system). Focus Mission Critical Advisors says the changes significantly improved stability without adding capacity.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association examined hospitals’ use of AI tools to submit insurance claims. It found more patients documented with complex conditions without evidence of a corresponding change in care. The association estimates that use added $942 million to healthcare spending over two years.
